With an average of five loads of laundry per week, the habits of the French have a real impact on the environment. After a costly and incomplete cleaning process, wastewater treatment plants release water with proven ecotoxicity into rivers. The consequences can then be disastrous for ecosystems polluted by the chemicals present in laundry detergents. Therefore, choosing the right product is particularly important, not only for the health of your clothes and skin, but also for its environmental impact.
Choosing your laundry detergent is a real environmental issue, becoming an eco-citizen responsibility. Rampal Latour, a soap maker committed to tradition and its environmental values, offers you the solution for a simple and eco-responsible laundry routine.

How to use our eco-friendly laundry detergent in your washing machine?
When it comes to controlling your environmental impact, choosing your laundry detergent isn't the only factor to consider. Often overlooked, following the product's dosage instructions is also important.
Besides the economic benefits, not overdosing your laundry detergent offers numerous advantages. Not only will it allow you to wash your clothes effectively without leaving residue, but it will also protect your washing machine in the long run. And above all, using your detergent correctly will limit environmental pollution from wastewater runoff. Even an eco-friendly detergent can have repercussions on ecosystems if the dosage is incorrect.
The French tend to use too much laundry detergent. Modern washing machine drums have larger capacities, and with more laundry, it's tempting to increase the amount of detergent. Big mistake.
Impact of overdose
Overdosing on laundry detergent has a negative impact on the environment, the cleanliness of your laundry, and your health.
Washing machines are now equipped with increasingly water-efficient cycles. While this is beneficial for both the French economy and the environment, it requires an adjustment in the amount of detergent used . Older washing machine models were heavy water consumers. They washed and rinsed clothes in tubs filled with liquid. In contrast, modern machines use only a small amount of water in the drum. The fabrics are then only slightly dampened, and cleaning is achieved by friction. If detergent is overused, the clothes become sticky and slippery. They are not cleaned properly because the friction is ineffective.
During the rinsing phase, the excessive amount of detergent does not rinse properly, leaving residues that produce white marks on fabrics. These product residues then come into contact with the skin and can cause skin irritation or
For your washing machine, regularly using too much detergent can negatively impact its efficiency and lifespan. An overdose of detergent doesn't dissolve properly and can cause deposits in the pipes or clog the detergent dispenser drawers. The machine no longer functions efficiently, leading to excessive water and electricity consumption.
Whether it's for the cleanliness of your laundry, your health or to increase the lifespan of your machine, our master soap makers give you all their advice on the dosage of Marseille liquid laundry detergent.
Dosage advice
Adjust the amount of laundry detergent according to the quantity and degree of soiling of your laundry.
The first mistake to avoid is using the same amount of detergent for every type of laundry. Taking the time to assess your detergent needs before starting your washing machine can improve efficiency, save you money, and be more environmentally friendly.
To correctly measure your laundry detergent, several factors must be considered. First, it's essential to adjust the amount of detergent to the quantity of laundry to be washed. A half-load will obviously require less detergent than a full load.
The degree of soiling of your laundry is also important. Heavily soiled clothes will require a larger dose of detergent to come out clean.
Advice from our master soap makers
Our master soap makers give you all their advice for optimal use of our eco-friendly laundry detergent.
Our Marseille-certified organic liquid laundry detergent cleans tough stains while being gentle on your clothes. A small amount of product is all you need to be effective.
The detergent can be placed directly in the drum, in the center of the laundry. For a 5 kg washing machine, and in the case of heavily soiled laundry, start by placing half the load in and pour 50 ml (1/4 glass or 3 to 4 tablespoons) of detergent into the center of the fabric. The rest of the laundry can then be added before starting the wash cycle.
In the case of very dirty laundry, the dose of ecological laundry detergent will be increased to 75 ml, or 5 to 6 tablespoons.
To determine the correct laundry detergent dosage, consider the hardness of your water. Hard water, with its high mineral concentration, may require slightly more detergent than soft water.
To find out the water hardness in your area, check your water bill or go to the Town Hall.
Whatever happens, always respect the doses indicated on the label of your Marseille liquid laundry detergent.
Our laundry detergent is also effective for hand washing. Our master soap makers recommend using 2 tablespoons, or 30 ml, of Marseille liquid laundry detergent diluted in 5 liters of hot or cold water.
